There is a wondetful opportunity for 4 activity points. HBU NSA will be hosting a blood drive this upcoming Thursday 02-14-19, from 1:30pm-5pm. The donor bus will be infront of the Brown Center. If you sign up and donate, you will receive 2 activity points for drawing blood, 1 activity point for wearing NSA shirt or scrubs, and 1 activity point for taking a picture and sending it to [email protected].

If you cannot donate or don’t meet the requirements, you may refer a NON nursing student and get 1 committee point. Communicate with Gabe C in Tiffany&Co, The NSA Campus Events chair to receive the point(s)!

Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center - Donor Portal Our mission is to partner with the community to save and sustain lives by providing a safe supply of blood, blood components and related services.

Today, a few of our nursing students participated in an enrichment program that allowed younger elementary students to receive a college experience with an emphasis on nursing. The students received a college tour and learned nursing skills in our simulation lab. After learning the skills, the students received a certificate of achievement to reward their success in our labs. This is the first time an event like this has been organized and we look forward to doing it again. The elementary students, nursing faculty, and nursing students loved it! In addition, NSA would like thank all of those who participated and volunteered!

MD Anderson Cancer Center is excited to share that our Summer Professional Student Nurse Externship (PSNE) program is now accepting applications!

To qualify for the Summer PSNE program, students must:

Be currently enrolled full time in an accredited BSN school of professional nursing
Have completed two semesters of nursing courses by the beginning of the summer program
Verify excellent academic standing by submission of unofficial school transcript
Have a desire to work with the oncology patient population
Be able to work 36 to 40 hours per week for the duration of the 10-week program, including some weekends
Be able to complete institutional and nursing program orientation (orientation is scheduled for one week starting May 28, 2019.)
Students are ineligible for PSNE summer program if enrolled full time in academic nursing classes during summer semester.

The position will be posted until Friday, February 11th and requires several documents to be uploaded into the application system.
