If you work in a Class 2C or 3C school or a Class 2A or 4A high school or are a Retiree, please remember to cast your ballot in the State Officer Election which closes Friday night, January 9, 2026, at 11:59 p.m.

Please share this link with your friends and colleagues. This issue contains pictures and biographies of nominees for ATSSB State Offices. We will have an electronic ballot the first week in January to reduce the nominees to the top two in each class (unless one person receives 51% of the electronic vote), so keep an eye on your inbox that week and, if you do not receive a link to vote, contact the Executive Director. A secret ballot will be cast for the positions that do not receive a majority vote in the electronic ballot at the ATSSB General Session in San Antonio on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM in CC214.

The ATSSB Executive Board is excited to announce that the ATSSB All-State Percussion Ensemble has been officially approved by both the ATSSB State Board and TMEA State Board! The inaugural ATSSB All-State Percussion Ensemble will perform at the 2027 TMEA Convention. The audition process will begin in the fall of 2026 in correlation with the other All-State auditions. More detailed information is to be announced at a later date. ATSSB is proud to continue growing and expanding opportunities for small school band students across Texas!

Here are some photos from the clinic titled “Small School Marching Band- The Dos and Don’ts” presented by Zachary Sims and Jesus Perez this morning. This was one of two clinics sponsored by ATSSB. The other clinic was “Why Teach in the Small School/ Why Stay in a Small School?” Presented by Rodney Bennett, Marilyn Bennett, Matt Knight, & Anna Jo Knight. Unfortunately, we did not get a picture of that clinic. Nevertheless, both clinics were very informative and well-received!

ATSSB recognized Frank Coachman for his 26 years of service to TMEA.

Congrats to Gatesville High School Band for being selected to represent ATSSB as a TMEA Invited Program Spotlight! This is a great honor and we look forward to their presentstion and performance at the 2026 TMEA Convention!

Congratulations to the Division that will perform and present during the 2026 TMEA Clinic/Convention 🎉 We look forward to seeing them in February!
