New News!

Histrionix Learning Company recently launched a new videography and moviemaking service called Histrionix Learning Media that we offer our campus clients to document the powerful stories in their schools and share them with the wider world.

We are about to release our first film series called Sharpstown Stories that shines light on so called newcomer students from Afghanistan at Sharpstown High School in Houston Independent School District who are refugees and asylees from their war torn country.

Their struggle to achieve the American dream given the great challenges they face is the theme of our film series - and is a story too few people know, even here in Houston, Texas.

For this reason, I have submitted it as a second separate panel at SXSW EDU in Austin, Texas.

Please help send us there by voting for our panel, so we can share these Sharpstown Stories with the world because they deserve an audience.

Histrionix Learning Company recently launched a classroom support service and teacher retention tool called Pro Teacher.

To help shine light on the important and impactful work we do to build teacher capacity and reduce teacher stress, we applied as a panel to present at SXSW EDU in Austin, Texas.

Part of the process requires the public at large to weigh in and vote to help pick the panels that present there.

A Happy First Day of School of Announcement!

Histrionix Learning is hap, hap happy to announce our newest partnership: Hogg Middle School in the Houston Independent School District!

Histrionix Learning is proud to partner with Hogg, an IB + STEM middle school, and we are excited to work with the talented teaching staff there this school year.

Teacher As Designer transforms teachers into designers, empowering them to craft lasting learning experiences for their students, using innovative design-thinking teaching strategies, with Histrionix expert support staff guiding them each step along the way.

Already, the teacher-designer teams at Hogg are off to a strong start, and we look forward to seeing success with them in the coming school year - as a campus design team.

Histrionix Learning & Sharpstown High School in Houston Independent School District have proposed a Teacher As Designer panel discussion for this year's SXSW EDU conference in March, 2021, and we need your help!

Teacher As Designer is a new professional development pathway that places teachers alongside a professional designer to learn valuable new design skills, and apply them. That way, teachers refine their practice by crafting engaging, standards-aligned experiences that sharpen student learning, and build new skills.

Panel attendees will learn more about Teacher As Designer and its impact from the company that created it, Histrionix Learning, and graduating teacher-designers from Sharpstown High School in Houston, TX.

Under the leadership of Principal Dan DeLeon, and his admin team, including Mr. Farhan Shah and Mr. Christopher Wood, Sharpstown High School has re-imagined itself as a project-based campus, specializing in design-thinking-teaching and engaging content creation.

The Apollo's recent pedagogical pivot and new project-based point of view were reasons they cited when seeking out help from Histrionix Learning two years ago, when Teacher As Designer first started at SHS.

Since then, we have had many success stories as professional development partners.

But that was then, and this is now, the time of covid, so SHS teachers, like all teachers everywhere, will need more professional development and support this school year than ever before.

And Histrionix Learning is here to help!

That said, this cool, clever short film explains how our Teacher As Designer partnership will continue to empower SHS teachers through design this year, like before, but without adding anything more to their full plates.

In fact, we think we have found an innovative way for Teacher As Designer to lessen the load they are carrying because of covid.

Another Successful Summer in Fifth Ward, Houston, Texas!

Last week, Histrionix Learning closed out our fifth straight summer camp partnership with Urban Enrichment Institute (formerly Fifth Ward Enrichment Program).

UEI provides engaging summer camp programs that provide mentorship and paid internship opportunities to boys and young men living in the historic Fifth Ward in Houston, Texas.

This summer, Histrionix Learning provided Game Jam to UEI summer camp students.

Game Jam is an entrepreneurial plus game design program that encourages students to set up their very own video game companies, and release new game titles they themselves create using the classic game-making video game called Gamestar Mechanic.

This year's winning game designer is Christopher Walker for his original game title called The Multiverse, which you can play by following the link.

Histrionix Learning Company Partners with Urban Enrichment Institute for Summer 2020!

This week kickstarts our fifth straight summer camp partnership with UEI (formerly Fifth Ward Enrichment Program).

UEI provides engaging summer camp programs that build skills, and provide mentorship and paid internship opportunities to boys and young men living in the historic Fifth Ward in Houston, Texas.

This summer, Histrionix Learning is providing Game Jam and Just Add Beats to UEI summer camp students.

Game Jam is an entrepreneurial plus game design program that encourages students to set up their very own video game companies, and release new game titles they themselves create, using the classic game-making video game called Gamestar Mechanic.

And Just Add Beats is an entrepreneurial plus audio design program that encourages students to start their own record labels, and mini media companies, and produce beats, jingles, sound effects, podcasts and more using professional grade equipment.

Both programs will be provided on line this summer, due to covid concerns, so UEI students will still get the top notch summer camp experience they have come to expect over the last 35 years.

Histrionix is happy to be partners-in-play with UEI again this summer, and honored as ever to be part of this great lasting legacy.
