OOOH! Ahh! THIRD WARD HIGH!

The time has come for these these young Lions to show what they are made of. Last year we claimed the District and Area championships en route to Regionals and only a few points away from State. This year we are trying to finish what we started. Of all competitions comprised in the UIL realm, UIL One Act Play is by far the most difficult and nerve wrecking. However, we are Jack Yates and nothing will phase us. Pray for safe travels and keep these young women and men lifted in the spirit. It is going to be a long day!!!

ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Calling all JY Alumni to come out and support The Award Winning Jack Yates High School Theatre Department. They will be performing their One Act Play production of "Steel Magnolias" TODAY!!! at Booker T. Washington High School. We need your support lion country. The Mighty Lions of Jack Yates High School will be defending their District Championship. Unlike sports, the size of the crowd does have an impact and will affect the Judges decisions. Let's get it Third Ward High!

This month, our young thespians will begin UIL Competition. Last year we took the State of Texas by storm, winning district and area. Attaining every honor and award possible, we kicked the door down to regionals and almost punched our ticket to Austin. However, this may be the year of our total triumph, we are locked and loaded. "Steele Magnolias" will be our weapon of choice, for the road to state is a difficult one and it is imperative that we choose a strong play with a strong script moving forward, that is what we did. More information will be given through this page in the coming days. We do know that the UIL competitions will be after our amazing basketball team wins state!!! Let's bring home the gold JY in EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!

We have noticed a spike in audience size during our fall main stage productions this year. Social media has had a lot to do with that, thank you ALL for your strong and never ending support. It's not over yet, there are still more productions in the works. In the meantime continue to spread the word about the Jack Yates Theatre Company, in doing this WE can expand our reach, sell out shows, and fund future expenses regarding; workshops, technical training, costumes, make up, lights, maintenance, the list goes on. It is our duty to ensure that our students/theatre program have the BEST possible advantage when it comes to perfecting their craft. There is a lot to earn in the business of theatre, so let's get our students ready.

Spring Semester has begun, you know what that means...Competition is right around the corner. Time to see how the talent of JY match up against the best in Texas, preparation is key to the success of any theatre program. We will keep you posted on EVERYTHING!!! Have a beautiful day JY Family.
