Come early for the Swedish midsummer party in the lobby. Wear white to join in, and the first 500 guests get a flower crown🌼

This morning, we gathered to rededicate Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts, and the City of Houston proclaimed today Jesse H. Jones Hall for the Performing Arts Day.

Tomorrow marks 60 years since Performing Arts Houston’s first presentation on this very stage. Generations of artists, audiences, and memories later, we’re honored to call Jones Hall home.

Thank you, Houston, for sharing it with us.

This September, members of the The Joffrey Ballet came to Houston for a week-long residency, and we spent it doing what we love most: getting artists into the community.

From studios to classrooms, they led movement workshops and ballet masterclasses for students, aspiring dancers, and neighbors of all ages, seven events in three days.

Highlights included:
🩰A public movement workshop with the Houston Area Parkinson Society at Houston Ballet
🩰 Masterclasses at the University of Houston, Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and Houston Ballet
🩰 Workshops at Institute of Contemporary Dance, Rising Stars Academy of Dance, and Edison Cultural Arts Center, including public sessions open to all

At Performing Arts Houston, education and access are at the heart of our mission. We believe the artists on our stages should also be in our classrooms and communities, so everyone can discover, learn, and create in the performing arts.

Thank you to Suzanne Lopez and Linda Swayze of the Joffrey Ballet for sharing your time, talent, and generosity. And a huge thank you to our partners for opening your doors and welcoming us in: University of Houston , Houston Ballet , Courtney D Jones, Institute Contemporary Dance , Rising Stars Academy of Dance , Edison Arts Foundation and the Houston Area Parkinson Society.
