Texas Climate Conference 2025: A Vision for Resilient Futures

The Rice Sustainability Institute was proud to co-host the inaugural Texas Climate Conference at Rice University—an inspiring two-day gathering of scientists, policymakers, and community leaders working to address Texas’s most urgent climate challenges.

Organized by Dr. Sylvia Dee (Rice) in partnership with Dr. Andrew Dessler (Texas A&M), the event featured powerful talks from U.S. Congresswoman Lizzie Fletcher, keynote Dr. Katharine Hayhoe of The Nature Conservancy, and more than 40 researchers presenting on heat, flooding, sea-level rise, public health, and environmental justice.

As Dr. Dee shared:
“The more we work as a team, the more we can shape a safe, resilient climate future and help support policies that will strengthen Texan communities!”

Thank you to all who made this event a success. We’re excited to continue building momentum toward climate solutions—together.
