Lakewood Little People

The Child Development Program of Lakewood United Methodist Church

Kris Ramos,, Director

When you walk through the Ark or the preschool classrooms Monday through Friday, you are entering a fun-filled learning environment that serves our little people ages 6 months through 5 years. We provide a stimulating and nurturing environment for our children and support their growth

in all areas of development: cognitive, social, emotional, physical, spiritual and creative. Low teacher-child ratios are maintained to enhance the learning experience of each child and to keep the quality of the program high. We have an outstanding music and motor skills program. Our Chapel program is an
exciting time of learning about God that is taught by the Children’s Ministry (Ms. Mingo) and several times a year is led by the pastoral staff. We teach children about God’s love through the Bible stories, but also through our
everyday experiences in the classroom, where we nurture children to grow and develop in their own way, and help them see that they are valued and loved. Our classrooms are designed to provide developmentally appropriate activities for the children using a combination of large group, small group, and individual activities. Children are provided opportunities for creative, process-oriented art, language development, pre-reading, pre-writing, pre-math, discovery, counting, sorting, patterning, pretending, building, reading, and so much more. For more information, contact our office Monday through Friday from 9:00 until 2:30 at 281-370-2276 (this is the direct line to the school.) We will be glad to show you around and answer any questions. The program runs from late August through May.
