We're finishing up 2 weeks of advanced conventional UT courses today! Last week was our 40- hour UTSW course for Detection, Characterization and Sizing of weld defects (we call that UT-301). That course serves as a prep course for practical exams such as the The American Society for Nondestructive Testing ISQ UTSW exam and the The American Petroleum Institute QUTE exam, in addition to simply sharpening up the UTSW skills introduced in your basic UTLv2 course.

This week, we have been holding our UT-302 course- Conventional UT Crack sizing, using refracted shear wave and L-wave techniques. This was actually the 1st class offered at UofUT, going back nearly 20 years ago! This course is ideal to serve as a prep course for individuals looking to pass the API QUSE sizing qualification, and the EPRI Sizing exam. In this course we use a variety of single element and dual element techniques, including basic tip diffraction, Bi-modal dual probes, High angle L-Wave and High Angle Shear wave Dual probes, etc. Now that API has combined the QUTE and QUSE, these two prep courses taken back- to- back help technicians better guarantee a win when taking the exams. We will be holding another session of these two courses in the coming months, in addition to all the other advanced courses like PAUT, TOFD, TFM/FMC that we are known as industry leaders in. Contact us at [email protected], and check our website at https://universityofultrasonics.com/ and let us help you Level Up Your UT Skills!
