3rd grade math teachers… be honest.
Do you ever sit down for small groups and feel like you’re just figuring it out as you go?
Like… should I reteach? give practice? check work?
I used to feel like this all the time, and it made small groups feel way more stressful than they needed to be.
Once I started following a simple routine, everything felt so much more clear and manageable.

My students were learning the skill… but forgetting it the NEXT day 😩
No matter how much we practiced, reteached, or reviewed… it just wasn’t sticking.
So I made one small change 👇
I started spiraling review into our math block EVERY day.
And everything changed.
✔️ They started retaining skills ✔️ They showed their thinking more clearly ✔️ They felt more confident going into lessons + tests
It wasn’t more work… just better structure.
This saved my math block during testing season and end-of-year chaos 🙃

The only way I got math to actually stick…
was by reviewing a little bit every day.
not cramming everything at the end.
such a simple shift but it makes a huge difference 👀
