The Prairie A&M University- Cooperative Extension Service has a mission to respond to the needs of under-served Texans through life-changing opportunities that empower families, promote agriculture, strengthen communities, and foster leadership development in youth. STEAM, STEAM, STEAM. On Saturday, August 15th, Shana Kutak, Brazoria County FCH Agent, Brazoria County - Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service facilitated a Steam Canning Worshop at the Trini Mendenhall Sosa Community Center. We canned Thai Chili Sauce and Strawberry Lemonade. While the jars were processing, the group enjoyed the Thai Chili Sauce with Pot Stickers and Lemonade.

On Wednesday, July 23, Family and Community Health Agents Dr. Sonja Davis and Gabrielle Kanu were featured on Fox 26 to discuss ways to reduce the risk of Cyclospora infection through proper produce cleaning practices.

During the segment, they shared practical, research-based guidance on how to safely wash fresh fruits and vegetables, addressed common social media myths about cleaning produce, and highlighted the Fight BAC!® principles for safe food handling. Their discussion emphasized simple, everyday practices that help prevent foodborne illness and promote food safety in the home.
