WEATHER UPDATE: EARLY DISMISSAL
– TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

Dear Southwest Public Schools' Families, Out of an abundance of caution, Southwest Public Schools will have a 1:00 PM early dismissal on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, due to the forecast for inclement weather, including the potential for heavy rainfall and street flooding in parts of the Houston area during the regular dismissal time.

This developing and somewhat unpredictable weather pattern may create hazardous travel conditions tomorrow afternoon. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority, and we want to ensure everyone has adequate time to travel home safely before conditions potentially worsen. Please stay tuned for further updates as we continue to monitor weather and roadway conditions.

Today, we had the joy of welcoming our students and families back for the first day of school! 🎒✨

We kicked off the year with training, community building, reconnecting, and of course… a little dodgeball.

Back-to-school season can bring hope, but for families whose child is struggling with substance use, mental health concerns, or behavioral challenges, it can also bring fear and uncertainty.
