Northland Christian School is excited to welcome back Dena Kraner as a 3rd grade teacher. Dena brings more than 25 years of teaching experience and a deep love for both students and Christ-centered education. Her journey with Northland spans decades, having first taught at the school in the mid-1990s and returning over the years to serve in a variety of impactful roles, including elementary teacher and Assistant Director of Admissions.
Throughout her time at Northland, Dena has taught multiple grade levels including kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, sixth and elementary PE while also investing in students through Bible instruction, leadership development, and service opportunities. She has a unique ability to create engaging, nurturing classrooms where students feel known, loved, and challenged to grow academically and spiritually.
Dena’s heart for Northland is evident in her commitment to its mission and community. She has faithfully served not only in the classroom but also in helping families connect to the school, reflecting her belief in the life-changing impact of Christian education. Her colleagues describe her as compassionate, dedicated, and deeply invested in the success and well-being of every student.
A graduate of Texas A&M University, Dena holds multiple teaching certifications and is passionate about helping students discover their God-given gifts and reach their full potential. Her love for children, her strong faith, and her long-standing connection to Northland make her a tremendous blessing to the school community.

Northland Christian School is excited to welcome Karla Smith to our Elementary Team as a Kindergarten Teacher for the 2026–27 school year! Mrs. Smith brings a passion for Christ-centered education, a heart for young learners, and a commitment to helping students thrive academically, socially, and spiritually.
Mrs. Smith is a graduate of University of Houston, where she earned her degree in Integrated Communication with a minor in English. She brings nearly six years of educational experience to Northland, having most recently served as a first-grade teacher at Second Baptist School and previously at Briargrove Elementary School. Throughout her career, she has been passionate about creating engaging, nurturing, and faith-filled classrooms where students develop confidence, independence, and a love for learning.
Mrs. Smith deeply values collaboration with families and fellow educators and believes strong partnerships are essential to student success. Her enthusiasm for early childhood education and her servant-hearted approach make her a wonderful addition to the Northland family.
Karla and her husband, Ryan, have three wonderful children, and their oldest child will be joining the Northland family in Pre-K 4 this fall. Mrs. Smith shared that she is incredibly thankful the Lord placed Northland in their path and is excited to see all He has in store for the year ahead.

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the addition of Jennifer Goedken to our Secondary Math Department for the upcoming school year. Bringing more than 28 years of public-school teaching experience, Mrs. Goedken has dedicated her career to helping students grow academically, personally, and confidently both inside and outside the classroom.
A lifelong resident of the Spring area, Mrs. Goedken has taught a variety of subjects across grades 6 through 12 throughout her distinguished career in education. She holds lifetime certification in Secondary Mathematics, as well as certifications in ESL and Educational Administration. Mrs. Goedken earned her undergraduate degree from Tarleton State University and later completed her master’s degree at Lamar University.
In addition to her classroom experience, Mrs. Goedken has an extensive coaching background, including serving as Head Swim Coach at Cy-Springs High School. Her passion for teaching and mentoring extends beyond the classroom through piano lessons, math tutoring, and swim instruction.
Jennifer is also a proud mother of two. Her son currently serves as an active member of the United States Marine Corps, while her daughter attends Texas State University. Outside of school, she enjoys spending time with family and is an active member of Klein United Methodist Church, where she faithfully worships and serves.

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the addition of Kathleen Anderson to our Secondary Math Department for the upcoming school year. With more than two decades of teaching experience and a strong background in engineering, Mrs. Anderson brings a wealth of knowledge, passion, and real-world application to the classroom.
Originally born in Wisconsin and raised in both New York and Houston, Mrs. Anderson graduated from Cy-Creek High School before earning a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Texas A&M University. Following college, she spent six years working as a structural engineer before pursuing her lifelong passion for education. Over the past 22 years, she has faithfully served students at Klein Forest High School, Cy-Fair High School, and Klein High School, where she most recently served as Math Department Chair, teaching a wide range of mathematics courses from Algebra through AP Calculus AB, including honors and advanced-level instruction.
Mrs. Anderson and her husband will celebrate 27 years of marriage this summer. Together they have two sons, William and Brayden, who have both pursued successful careers in engineering and technology. Their family proudly represents both Texas A&M University and The University of Texas at Austin traditions.
Outside the classroom, Mrs. Anderson enjoys training dogs and has successfully trained two dogs to earn American Kennel Club Good Citizen awards. She also enjoys crocheting, working out, and participating in Aquafit and yoga classes.

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the addition of Juergen Schulz to our faculty as our new Physics teacher.
Mr. Schulz brings 35 years of experience in science education and a lifelong passion for helping students discover and understand the world through science. His extensive background in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, IPC, and Advanced Placement courses makes him an exceptional addition to the Northland academic community.
Originally from Port Neches, Texas, Mr. Schulz graduated from Port Neches-Groves High School in 1984 before attending Lamar University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry in 1988.
Before entering education, Mr. Schulz worked as a transplant technician. He then began his teaching career in Houston ISD before moving to Conroe ISD in 1992 as a chemistry teacher.
In 1998, Mr. Schulz joined, where he spent six years teaching Biology, Physics, IPC, Chemistry, and AP Chemistry while strengthening and diversifying his instructional experience within a Christian school environment.
Beginning in 2004, Mr. Schulz served for 22 years at Klein Collins High School, where he taught all levels of Physics and invested deeply in the lives and academic growth of his students. Following his retirement from public school education this year, he is excited to continue his calling in Christian education at Northland Christian School.
“For 35 years, I have proudly invested all my time and energy bringing science to the minds of youngsters,” Mr. Schulz shared. “I wish to commit to many more years of service in a Christian-centered and close-knit environment. I am truly blessed with and thankful for this opportunity.”

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the appointment of Jacob Kujak as the new Head Volleyball Coach for the Cougars athletic program.
Coach Kujak brings nearly four decades of experience in competitive volleyball along with a deep passion for mentoring student-athletes and building Christ-centered programs. His vision for Northland Volleyball is rooted in developing young women who pursue excellence in athletics, academics, leadership, and faith while creating a culture that reflects the love and character of Jesus Christ.
As a spiritual foundation for the upcoming season, Coach Kujak has selected the following verses to help guide the program:
• 1 Corinthians 13:1–7
• Psalm 127:1
• 2 Corinthians 5:14–21
Originally from eastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, Coach Kujak earned national recognition as a National Tournament All-American and USA Junior Olympian in 1991 before continuing his playing career collegiately at the University of Minnesota club program and later at NCAA Division I on scholarship.
Over the past 17 years, Coach Kujak has coached girls' volleyball at nearly every level, including high school varsity programs, club volleyball from 10U–18U, High Performance All-Star teams, and collegiate programs. His experience includes coaching at Western Technical College and helping launch the inaugural men’s volleyball season at Viterbo University.
Coach Kujak also served as Assistant Club Director for Club Synergy Volleyball and spent four and a half years as Owner and Club Director of Elevate Volleyball Club, where he focused on developing athletes both competitively and personally.
Beyond athletics, Coach Kujak is passionate about ministry and servant leadership. He was recently appointed Director of Spirit Led Business International and also volunteers with the Joseph Company prison ministry in Huntsville, Texas.
“We are excited to welcome Coach Kujak to Northland Christian School,” said Roger Elswick, Head of School. “His depth of experience, passion for mentoring young women, and commitment to Christ-centered leadership make him an outstanding fit for Northland Athletics. Coach Kujak and his wife, Kim, have been married for 17 years and live in Conroe, Texas, with their daughter Maya. Their son Brayden is graduating from the and will begin pilot training this fall.

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the appointment of Audra Langston as the school’s new Speech and Debate Coach.
Audra joins Northland with 28 years of experience as a nationally recognized educator, coach, and program builder in competitive speech and debate. Throughout her career, she has developed award-winning programs while helping students grow as communicators, leaders, and people of character.
Most recently, Audra served as the founding Speech and Debate Coach at Grand Oaks High School, where she built one of the largest and most successful programs in the region. Her experience also includes leadership roles at Kingwood High School, Kingwood Middle School, Whitesboro Middle School, and Springtown High School.
Audra earned her degree in English Education and Mass Communications from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and holds certifications in Secondary Speech Communications, CTE Professional Communications, and Theater.
A highly respected leader in the debate community, Audra is a Three Diamond coach known for her expertise in program development, World Schools Debate, competitive acting events, and building inclusive, character-driven team cultures.
Audra also brings an existing connection to Northland, having worked with Northland students for several years as a co-coach for the East Texas World Schools Debate teams. Through that experience, she developed a strong appreciation for the mission, students, and families of Northland.
Her coaching philosophy centers on a simple but powerful expectation she instills in every student: “Be Good People.” She believes speech and debate help students grow in confidence, integrity, leadership, and communication skills that impact every area of life.

Northland Christian School is excited to announce the appointment of Johnathan Ramey as Head Football Coach and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator for the Cougars athletic program.
Coach Ramey brings a passion for Christ-centered leadership, discipline, and player development to Northland Athletics. His vision for the program is to build young men of character while pursuing excellence in athletics, academics, and faith.
With more than a decade of coaching experience at the Division I, Junior College, and High School levels, Coach Ramey has built a reputation for developing disciplined, accountable, and competitive student-athletes. He earned both his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Houston Baptist University.
His coaching experience includes stops at:

We are excited to welcome Cliff Kraner as our new Athletic Director!
A lifelong Cougar and Northland graduate, Cliff attended NCS from kindergarten through 12th grade and returns with over 30 years of experience in education, coaching, administration, and student leadership. He began his career as a science teacher and coach, working with middle school football, basketball, and track, and later served Northland for more than two decades in leadership roles including Assistant Principal, Secondary Principal, and Director of Student Activities and Alumni Affairs. He also coached varsity boys and girls basketball, reflecting his passion for developing student-athletes and building strong relationships.
Most recently, Cliff served as a Graduate Admissions Counselor at Harding University, continuing his commitment to Christian education and student development. His deep love for Northland and heart for students make this a meaningful homecoming.
We are also proud to announce the promotion of Patti Abt to Assistant Athletic Director. Patti has faithfully served Northland Christian School for 17 years and has been an integral part of the success and daily operations of the athletic department. Her dedication to our students, coaches, families, and community continues to make a lasting impact.
