Juneteenth
Juneteenth commemorates June 19, 1865, when enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas, learned that they were free - more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed! This day represents freedom, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward justice and equality. Today, Juneteenth is a time to honor African American history, celebrate culture and community, and reflect on the importance of freedom for all.
