When we struggle it's easy for us to accuse God of not loving us. After years of waiting for God to fulfill his promise of a son, Sarah laughed bitterly at her Lord. And then she held her child and understood: God's timing isn't always when we want, but it's always perfect. And she laughed for joy. Let's always remember God's goodness and laugh with peace and overwhelming joy that only Jesus can give us.

The hopes of heaven are often hindered by fears of a closed door because of our unworthiness. But believers have nothing to be afraid of! Jesus came to live perfectly in our place and has opened heaven for us. Through faith we know that God has thrown open the gates and is ready to invite us into eternity!

As Paul wrote to Timothy he wanted to encourage his young friend. It might be his last opportunity because Paul knew that he was likely going to die. But Paul had no regrets: he knew what his Savior had won for him at the cross, and Paul had joyfully served his Lord out of thanks and joy for the prize waiting for him. We too know the crown of salvation that Jesus has prepared for us. As we look forward to that prize, let's run the race set before us! To God be the glory. 2 Timothy 4:7
