“Stories are the way that we connect.” ✍️ Ellie Ashby ‘20 has always asked one question: How do people live what they claim to believe?
Raised in Texas as a pastor’s daughter, Ellie studied Social Studies at Harvard College before finding her deepest intellectual home at Harvard Divinity School — where faith, scholarship, and storytelling converged. At HDS, she explored American evangelicalism, lived religion, and public life. She co-founded 300 Words, a daily writing community, led Suture Magazine as editor-in-chief, and wrote with the conviction that academic questions belong in public conversation.
This summer, she begins a journalism fellowship with and — covering religion and public life during a pivotal election cycle.
She’s not just studying faith. She’s helping the rest of us understand it. We are so proud of our Mustang Alum!
