World Affairs Council of Greater Houston In a city where 145 languages are spoken, global understanding isn't optional—it's essential.

Non profit, non partisan organization that connects Houston to the forces shaping our global future. Founded in 1990 by Houston's civic leaders, the Council is a 501(c) 3, non-partisan forum. It hosts a variety of lectures on global issues encouraging thoughtful discussion of the international issues and the events that shape our world today. Programs are made possible by in-kind support from indi

viduals, corporations, and foundations. We impact over 30,000 Houstonians each year and touch countless generations through the students and teachers we serve. Our vision is a strong and prosperous society, whose citizens participate cooperatively, confidently, and effectively in the global community. We do this by:

* Building a network of globally-minded citizens and business, civic, and government leaders

* Hosting lectures on global issues and bringing policy makers and opinion leaders to Houston

* Encouraging thoughtful discussion of the international issues and the events that shape our times

* Supporting the work of international organizations and academic institutions in the Houston area

* Bringing Houston’s voice into international policy discussion
