One day, all children will have the opportunity to attain an excellent education.

For the past thirty years, Teach For America has worked to find, develop, and support a diverse network of leaders who expand opportunity for children in classrooms, schools, and every sector and field that shapes the broader systems in which schools operate in Houston. In order to accomplish our mission of seeing that one day, all children in this nation will have the opportunity to attain an exc

The Houston East End Chamber of Commerce Education Symposium was a powerful reminder of what’s possible when communities come together for students.

Teach For America Houston was proud to sponsor the event alongside EMERGE and Math Circles of Houston as we celebrated students, educators, and community leaders creating opportunity across Houston.

Our Executive Director, Tiffany Cuellar Needham, was honored to introduce keynote speaker Elisa Villanueva Beard, CEO of the Houston Endowment, whose leadership and commitment to opportunity continue to inspire communities across Houston.

Perhaps the most moving part of the day was seeing so many high school seniors recognized as they pursue their college dreams. At least 10 of the scholarship recipients were also members of EMERGE Fellowship. In the audience was also the older brother of one of the recipients, himself an EMERGE fellow, a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Austin (Hook ’em), and a member of the 2026 Teach For America Houston corps.

That’s the full-circle nature of Teach For America’s work. We enlist some of our nation’s most promising young people to serve in classrooms today, and over time, we see those same leaders shaping careers, communities, and systems in pursuit of opportunity for all kids.

Thank you to the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce team for an inspiring day.

The Teach For America experience isn’t all about your life in the classroom; it’s about finding your people and having fun. Paolo Rausseo (Houston '25) and Diya Regi Thomas (Houston '24) met as Teach For America corps members in their placement school. Now, they’re inseparable. You can find your community AND your teaching job in Houston, one of many Teach For America locations.

They take you into what their Saturday in Houston looks like as they go to brunch (duh!), hit up thrift stores, relax in the park at the Menil Collection, and craft candles. They end the night how any young professional would: with pizza and dancing. Oh, and don’t forget the hammock swings.

You can have this much fun as a teacher in Houston with your new Teach For America bestie. Explore what Teach For America Houston has to offer: www.teachforamerica.org/houston

35 years ago, Teach For America was a startup with a mission. Today, we are a systemic force.
️
In 1990, we set out to prove what was possible. Thirty-five years later, we aren’t just celebrating history, we are accelerating momentum. To meet a rapidly changing world, we have evolved our brand to reflect the bold, future-focused movement our students deserve.

This is more than a new look. It is a commitment to the next era of leadership.

From the classroom on Day One to the alumni reimagining education for One Day, this is where aspiration meets action. The future is powered by the collective strength of our staff, corps members, and supporters. Our new identity is a reflection of that power.

Welcome to the next era. Welcome to The Power of Us.

Last week, Accenture Houston volunteers rolled up their sleeves during their Day of Service to assemble 100+ welcome boxes for our incoming corps members! A special thank you to our Board Member, Sacha Abinader, for bringing this effort to life and rallying his colleagues in such meaningful service. Accenture also generously sponsored the supplies for the welcome boxes, helping us warmly welcome our newest corps members as they begin training in Houston before they enter classrooms this fall.

We’re so grateful for this partnership and the heart behind it.
