Today, we remember and honor the men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice allows us the freedom to worship openly and to freely teach the love of Christ to the young children entrusted to our care.
As a church and school deeply rooted in the historic Houston Heights community, we remember that our neighborhood was in large part shaped and strengthened through generations following World War II. We are especially thankful for those who served and sacrificed for the families and freedoms we cherish today.
โGreater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.โ โ John 15:13 ๐บ๐ธโ๏ธ

Art can be found in timeless masterpieces, but also in paper plates, placemats, and the wonderfully creative minds of little learners. ๐จโจ
Last week, ILS mom and owner of visited our Preschool and Pre-K classes to remind us that art can take any form. From colorful scribbles to carefully planned creations, every piece was unique and full of imagination.
We loved watching our students concentrate, color, and let their creativity fly! ๐

Godโs promises are not distant words from long ago. His Word is personal, faithful, and enduring. ๐
What a comfort to know that from generation to generation, the Lord continues to call His people to Himself with love, mercy, and grace. We pray our students grow each day rooted in that promise.

The world around us changes quickly. Plans shift. Headlines overwhelm. Some seasons of life can feel uncertain and heavy. Christ speaks these words directly into the middle of it all: โTake heart; I have overcome the world.โ
Our hope is not found in perfect circumstances or earthly stability. Our peace is found in Jesus. He is the One who has already overcome sin, death, the Devil, and every trouble this world brings. In Him, we find the steady foundation our hearts long for.
No matter what today holds, take heart. Christ reigns. Christ is with you. Christ has overcome.

There are not enough words to fully thank our teachers. ๐๐
They are the steady, loving presence in our classrooms. They are the ones who nurture, teach, and care for each child as their own. They carry the trust of our families with such grace, and they are strengthened each day by the support of our incredible school and church families.
We want our teachers to know just how much we treasure them and how we truly couldnโt operate without them.
Throughout this week, that gratitude was shared in meaningful ways: delicious lunches, plenty of cookies and treats, and thoughtful gifts to say a simple โthank you.โ
Teacher Appreciation Week may be coming to a close, but our gratitude for the way ILS teachers pour into our students lasts all year long.

In a world that feels like itโs always shifting, we are reminded of what and Who does not change. The goodness of God and the gifts He places in our care are never ending.
These children are not only a joy, they have been our calling for 100 years. They are given by Him, loved by Him, and entrusted to us to nurture, teach, and serve each day.
What a gift it is to be part of their story. ๐
