I just love using this book at the beginning of the school year. It's about a girl who has to go to a new school, and they all look different than her and have different experiences.

It's the beginning of the year and there are so many new things. That's the thing with education, it keeps evolving and we have to evolve with it. I know it's hard. I am doing some hard things this year that are scary. I have already messed up a couple of times and the school year hasn't technically began! LOL
I get back up to bat and don't get scared of striking out. This time I might hit a homerun! Watch out world!!

One week back, and I've already heard two teachers say they need to make sub plans.

That's the tricky part about emergency days. You don't get to schedule them. You wake up at 5 am with a sick kid, and whatever is sitting in your sub folder is what your class gets that day.

Mine has 5 full days ready to go. Three read-alouds, reading and math built around each one, and an editable binder with the schedule, the routines, and all the things a sub would have no way of knowing.

Print it once. Put it in the folder. Forget about it until the morning you need it.

Even though a teacher or coworker looks like they have it all together, you never know what their life really looks like. ⁣Social Media is sometimes the hardest thing to deal with at times. All we see are the beautiful classrooms, the amazing ideas, and the put-together teachers. We don't get to see all of their struggles. ⁣
Just remember nobody is perfect, and everyone is struggling with something. ⁣Be kind to others. We never know what's going on with them.
