This morning, BEI welcomed Jon and Alex, librarians from Jungman Neighborhood Library, a branch of Houston Public Library (HPL). Our students learned how to register for a library card and explored the many free resources available to support English learning, grammar, academic writing, research, and more. Many even signed up for their own library cards—opening the door to a whole new world of learning! Thank you, Jon and Alex, for making the library feel so welcoming and accessible.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate Manal Jaffer, who has been honored with the 2026 Leadership & Community Service Award by the Pakistan Chamber of Commerce (PCC) where she has been serving as a board member.

This distinguished recognition celebrates Manal's unwavering commitment to serving our community through education and her tireless advocacy for fair, accessible, and affordable educational opportunities for all.

During her acceptance speech, Manal expressed heartfelt gratitude to her family and her colleagues at the Bilingual Education Institute (BEI) for their continuous encouragement and support. Today, the BEI community came together for our cherished BEI's Annual Patriotic Concert, a long-standing tradition that brings our students, faculty, and staff together in celebration of Independence Day.
The Main Lobby was filled with music, smiles, and patriotic spirit as we sang beloved American songs, enjoyed popsicles, and celebrated the diversity and unity that make BEI such a special place. ❤️🤍💙

A huge THANK YOU to Shannon and Aria from BEI's partner institution, Houston Christian University (HCU), for visiting BEI and introducing our students to HCU's undergraduate and graduate programs.
Students asked great questions and learned more about possibilities for future academic opportunities. Creative partnerships like this - which includes a special visiting student status for taking an HCU graduate Management class at a discounted tuition rate - help build meaningful pathways from English language learning to higher education.
We appreciate our HCU’s colleagues’ time and support, and look forward to continuing our collaboration!
