Houston Tigers, we’ve got an awesome opportunity for you! Fellow Tiger Carlton Houston (Carlton Houston) will be all over our city in the weeks to come talking about his new book, The Houston Negro Hospital. The first is on Monday, June 15th at Kindred Stories!

The book is the story of two unlikely figures who became allies at the height of racial and political tensions in early twentieth-century Houston - Dr. William M. Drake, a pioneering surgeon and Black community leader, and Joseph Cullinan, a white oil magnate and founder of the company that became Texaco - to save a hospital that brought dignity and health care access to a community that was systematically denied both in the Jim Crow South.

We’re looking for recent grads from within the last 10 years or so to help us plan a fun social event (like a happy hour, bar crawl, etc) for the chapter this spring, which just might involve joining up with another SEC alumni chapter.

This family-friendly social event and presentation of our Eye of the Tiger award will take place in the Great Ape Gallery, where expansive windows showcase the inspiring Gorilla Day Room and your walk to the venue passes by the Tiger exhibit for a perfect Mizzou moment.

Hearty appetizers and one drink per person 21+ will be included.

Join us tonight at Platypus Brewing for a Mizzou-Miami watch party! Tipoff is at 9:10 p.m. Central.
