🐦 THE BIRD SINGING AT 4 A.M. ISN'T TRYING TO WAKE YOU.

It's trying to save its family.

Long before the sun rises...

The first voices of the day begin to sing.

Scientists call it the **dawn chorus**.

🌅 WHY SO EARLY?

The cool morning air carries birdsong farther than warm afternoon air.

By singing before sunrise, birds can defend their territory while using less energy.

🎵 IT'S MORE THAN A SONG

For many birds, the dawn chorus is a daily announcement:

"I'm here."

"This territory is occupied."

"I'm healthy enough to raise a family."

The strongest singers often have the best chance of attracting a mate.

✅ Plant native trees and shrubs.

✅ Leave fresh water outside during hot weather.

✅ Avoid trimming hedges during nesting season.

✅ Keep cats indoors, especially at dawn and dusk.
