🧠 Are they ignoring you… or do they need help shifting their attention?

When a child is deeply focused on an activity, the brain may filter out other stimuli—even an adult’s voice. It is not always defiance or disrespect: the ability to shift attention quickly is still developing.

Before raising your voice:

✨ Move closer and get to their level.
✨ Say their name and make eye contact.
✨ Connect with what they are doing.
✨ Give one clear instruction and prepare them for the transition.
