The first month of a new school year comes with a lot of feelings, for children and parents both. Here's what's completely normal:

Your child may cry at drop-off even if they love school. Separation anxiety often peaks in the first two to three weeks and fades fast. They might seem extra tired. New environments take energy. Absorbing everything, new faces, new routines, new expectations, is hard work.

They may not want to talk about their day. "I don't know" is a totally normal answer. Try "What made you laugh today?" instead.

It gets easier — usually by week three. And we'll always let you know how they're doing on our end. 💛
