A great school year starts with inspired teachers! We recently wrapped up some incredible professional development sessions across the area. Chapelwood School for Young Children joined us for "The Magic of Read Aloud" to explore fresh books and storytime strategies, while River Oaks Baptist School took a deep dive into "The Project Approach" to bring hands-on classroom projects to life.

This week, School Literacy and Culture visited St. Martin's for two different sessions: “Fostering Literacy and Language Through Play” for infant and toddler teachers, and “Ramps and Pathways” for preschool teachers. We enjoyed the collaborative and driven nature of the educators. It was a joy to see them jump right into sharing ideas and thinking outside the box for classroom implementation.

Investing in our teachers means investing in our students' success. 🍎 Teachers from across the Houston-Galveston area recently gathered for workshops on The Magic of Read Aloud and Name Curriculum, where they explored practical ways to leverage student names for skill-building throughout the classroom space.

Attendees left the trainings energized, inspired and equipped with actionable strategies to implement in their classrooms this school year. Thank you to all the dedicated teachers taking time to sharpen their craft! 📚

This year’s School Literacy and Culture Summer Institute brought together early childhood educators from across the region to collaborate, share research-backed strategies and transform how we approach early learning classrooms. From hands-on literacy techniques to powerful peer connections, our community of teachers left equipped to make a lasting impact this coming school year.
