Eastwood Academy is an award-winning college preparatory charter high school just southeast of downtown Houston. We boast a diverse student body of approximately 400 students. All of Eastwood Academy’s students take a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum and complete 80 hours of community volunteer work prior to graduation. Our students enroll in dual credit courses, a strong Advanced Placement

curriculum and we base our daily actions and behaviors on the IB Learner Profile. At Eastwood Academy, we know that an excellent education can give you the skills you need to succeed in both college and in your professional career. In addition to our nationally recognized college preparatory program, our students participate in field trips to universities, attend lectures given by community leaders, and have access to several full-time counselors to help guide them in all areas of academic life. We offer Pre-SAT, ACT and SAT college entrance exam courses that ensure our students achieve the scores they need to get into their chosen university. Students can also take dual-credit courses to obtain college credit while still enrolled in high school. We equip all of our students with the skills, the experiences, and the intellect to develop into internationally-minded people who recognize their common humanity and shared guardianship of our Eastwood community, the East End community, and the planet. Our BIG GOAL is to have ALL of our students enrolled in the 4-Year College of their choice. This year, we celebrate our fourth consecutive year of TEA Exemplary Status. In addition, we have been named a 2011 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Our dedicated staff of educators approach each student with the attention and direction that suits their needs. Our freshman boxers had a great time at the zoo today. Each small group got to investigate different animals, their conservation status, habitat information, as well as other details they’ve been learning in biology!

The junior class took a trip to Sam Houston State University and learned about their programs, history, scholarships, and application process. Junior students getting ready to apply to college in a few short months got to hear first-hand from students and academic advisors.

Our sophomore students enjoyed a great trip to the Alley Theatre this week. They got behind-the-scenes tours of the facilities and logistics of the theater which had many ties to their applications in Engineering as well as English and other subjects. The students even created a few tableaux about The Taming of the Shrew, which they recently read.

Due to the incoming winter storm, Houston ISD schools will be closed on Monday, January 26, 2026.

The Fall-Winter 2025 graduation will still be held Saturday, and there will be a livestream available for remote viewing.

The Hattie Mae White building will be closed on Monday as well. However, central office staff should look for messages from their department chief regarding any essential work functions. Any updates or additional information will be shared through ParentSquare, HISD Now, our website at HoustonISD.org, and our official district social media channels. Please take every precaution to stay safe and warm throughout the weekend.
