The Ellen Boniuk Early Childhood School is one of the West Houston's finest preschools. Our caring, professional staff provide quality infant and child care and Jewish enrichment. We celebrate Jewish heritage and traditions through school-wide Shabbat, snack and holiday celebrations. We incorporate Jewish customs and values into our daily curriculum.

We said… why wait until May?
So we did a thing and moved Teacher Appreciation up—and WOW, was it the right call 🙌

Because let’s be honest… appreciation hits different mid-year

Huge thank you to our amazing partners at ECDC for the lunch + cutest tote bags and to Whole Foods Market for keeping us hydrated today

Add in chair massages and happy teachers = the kind of energy we LOVE to see 😌

Feeling very grateful for a community that shows up, lifts up, and takes care of our educators when it matters most 💫

Today our community was filled with connection and joy! As part of the Evelyn Rubenstein JCC Jewish Book and Arts Festival, We welcomed Tovah Klein, author of Raising Resilience, for a meaningful conversation with our parents about supporting children through every stage of growth. Her guidance and compassion left us inspired and empowered.
To make the day even sweeter, some of our Pre-K class joined to usher in Shabbat with blessings and song for their annual Thanksgiving Feast. Seeing our children share in these traditions together was truly heart-warming.
Wishing everyone a peaceful and joyful Shabbat! ✨🕯️

On August 10, our young scientists mixed, poured, and experimented at our Potion Party! What may look like play is actually powerful learning: children explored cause and effect, measured and compared, and delighted in the unexpected changes their hands created.

Potions invite wonder, curiosity, and discovery — each child is a researcher, shaping their own path of exploration. Just as every ingredient adds something unique to the potion, each child’s perspective adds beauty and possibility to our world.

Day 4 of Professional Development Week ✨
Today we learned from one another as colleagues, exploring how our environment is the third teacher — shaping curiosity, wonder, and connection. 🎨
Through process art, we celebrated creativity as a reflection of B’tzelem Elohim (in the image of the Divine), and together we crafted a Brit for our classroom — a shared agreement built on respect, kindness, and joy.
We also deepened our encounters with the People, Possibility, and Land of Israel — seeing how each can inspire meaningful experiences for children in our care. 🌍💙
Every brushstroke, every word, every space in our classrooms is part of the story we’re writing together for our children. 💛 Evelyn Rubenstein JCC

Day 3 of Professional Development Week brings us into the art studio, where every brushstroke became a prayer. Through process art, we explored how each child is created B’tzelem Elohim — in the Divine image — and how their unique expressions reflect infinite beauty and possibility. In our Reggio-inspired practice, the art is not about the product, but about honoring the sacred journey of creation itself. Our second session invites us to see Jewish holidays as moments of wonder, sparking curiosity, connection, and joy in our classrooms all year long. Evelyn Rubenstein JCC

Day 2 of Professional Development Week ✨
Our week of learning and connection continues!
We began the day inspired by words and text study with our CEO, Joel Dinkin, and gained valuable insights from our Director of Security, Lior Yonatan.
Next up—thanks to the support and team of Jewish Federation of Greater Houston—we’re diving into Executive Functioning with Sara Ward alongside our colleagues from Houston’s Jewish preschools.
Building knowledge, strengthening community, and living our values—together. 💙 Wrapping up with Mental health discussion and

Opening our professional development week with open hearts, curious minds, and the wisdom of our tradition. Like the Reggio approach, we see each educator as a co-learner and creator, and like our Jewish values teach, we begin with kavanah—intention—to shape spaces where every child’s light can shine. Shavua Tov!
