In this Black History Month video, students learn about the powerful message of civil rights leader Fannie Lou Hamer and what she meant by “Black Power.”
Black Power was not about hate — it was about voice, opportunity, and destiny.
In her speech, Fannie Lou Hamer explained that Black Power means:
• Political power — the right to vote and shape laws
• Economic power — ownership and fair opportunity
• Educational voice — teaching the truth about Black contributions to America
• The right to determine our own future
This student-friendly animated video brings her message to life through powerful scenes inspired by the 1960s Civil Rights Movement.
Perfect for:
✔️ Black History Month lessons
✔️ Social Studies classrooms
✔️ Middle school discussions
✔️ Culturally responsive teaching
✔️ Family learning time
Fannie Lou Hamer reminded us:
“We want to have something to say about our destiny.”
Her message still matters today.
