Day One of Track 9 at is about turning cybersecurity insight into action through stronger intelligence, better evidence, more effective tools, and the human judgment automation cannot replace.

Abeer Asad will explore how organizations can transform internal data, including phishing reports, detection alerts, authentication anomalies, and incident telemetry, into actionable cyber intelligence, while using AI to improve analysis and identify emerging patterns.

What could one day of hands-on cybersecurity exploration mean for a high school student’s future?

On September 16, will welcome 150 students in grades 9–12 to the George R. Brown Convention Center for a completely free opportunity to explore cybersecurity.

Students will take on a cybersecurity escape room, discover college and career pathways, connect with industry professionals, and learn how many opportunities exist within the field.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, relies on sponsors and individual donors to help provide meals, transportation assistance, event space, shirts, programming, and other resources for participating students.

At 2026, Mattia Campagnano will present “HUMAN TOUCH: Why Manual Testing Still Matters.”

In this video, Mattia previews how his session will demonstrate the value human testers bring to pe*******on testing, especially when automated scanners cannot fully understand context or recognize an unconventional path to exploitation.

Drawing from more than 20 years of IT and information security experience, Mattia will share real-world case studies involving a creative WAF bypass, a Fortinet directory traversal, a pass-back attack on a network printer, and an IDOR discovered in GitLab.

"Q" Nguyen will share findings from the CrowdStrike 2026 Threat Hunting Report, examining changing adversary tactics and how proactive, intelligence-driven threat hunting can help organizations strengthen their defenses.

Spensky will examine how companies have used cybersecurity features, including code signing, to lock down systems, increase profits, and stifle innovation. Drawing from firsthand experiences as a researcher, hacker, and cybersecurity CEO, he will reveal the unintended consequences of some of cybersecurity’s most widely trusted tools.

Samaresh Kumar Singh will take attendees inside an advanced zero-trust approach to defending connected infrastructure, combining agentic AI, federated learning, device authentication, and protection against poisoned data.

Victor Lyuboslavsky will help AppSec teams look beyond EDR marketing claims and ask what their endpoint security tools can actually observe, detect, and block.

Raghvesh and Sahana Narasimha Murthy will examine a potentially life-altering cybersecurity concern: how attackers can manipulate the data and logic informing clinical AI decisions, even when traditional privacy controls remain intact. Together, they will introduce a practical framework for evaluating the security of the human-AI decision loop in high-stakes environments.

These sessions offer a closer look at where security is heading, where established defenses may fail, and what cybersecurity professionals need to evaluate more critically.
