The Varnett Public School will return to regular school hours on Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

Students and staff should report at their regularly scheduled times. Normal arrival, dismissal, and transportation schedules will resume.

Dear Varnett Family,

Out of an abundance of caution, Southwest Public Schools will have a 1:00 PM early dismissal on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, due to the forecast for inclement weather, including the potential for heavy rainfall and street flooding in parts of the Houston area during the regular dismissal time.

This developing and somewhat unpredictable weather pattern may create hazardous travel conditions tomorrow afternoon. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority, and we want to ensure everyone has adequate time to travel home safely before conditions potentially worsen.

Please stay tuned for further updates as we continue to monitor weather and roadway conditions.
