It’s the last day of school, which means: Splash Day, games, yearbook-signing, and the Faculty & Staff Appreciation Luncheon!
Infant Community and Primary students splashed and played with friends, while Elementary and Adolescent Community students enjoyed board games and signing yearbooks. Our fabulous parent community prepared a beautiful end-of-year luncheon in gratitude for our faculty and staff. Laughter and friendship brought a joyous close to another year of learning and community life.
As we all head into the summer, we are endlessly grateful for the presence and care of each member of the St. Catherine’s community. Wishing you a joyful and connected break!

Lower Elementary student plays and puppet shows give a peek at the tenacity Montessori students show for their work and learning—even in the last week of the year. There is work to be done through the final moments of the academic year, and students revel in writing, staging, costume designing, and practicing these productions without interest or thought of “passing the time” by watching movies in class!

The Adolescent Community Portfolio Showcase brought the community together to celebrate Montessori adolescence in motion. At the showcase, each student presented one self-chosen topic as a lens for examining their work and learning process. This opportunity to share their learning experience strengthens confidence, communication skills, and sense of purpose.
Over the three-year Adolescent Community cycle, spanning 7th-9th grades, students deepen their understanding of their individual interests, strengths, and areas of challenge while learning to reflect meaningfully on their growth. The showcase highlights student individuality and the cohesion of this social learning community.
Prior to the open showcase, adolescent students presented their full spring portfolios directly to their parents, taking ownership of reporting on their learning journey through work samples and written reflections. Collaboration with guides and advisors reflects the interdependent process of building independence. A Montessori alternative to conventional grade-books and report cards, the student-led portfolio and conference process documents academic progress while offering adolescents an incomparable opportunity to develop self-awareness, responsibility, independence, and trust in their developing identity.

The gym was alive in “Harmonious Accord” at this year’s Spring Music Night! Students from 1st through 11th grades took the stage to share selections of music from choral to solos from orchestral to electric. Thanks to all the families who attended, the parent volunteers who prepared the gym and refreshments, the staff who helped prepare for the event, the faculty who have hosted after school music practices in their environments this year, and Mr. Winslow for conducting the SCM music program!

We are deeply grateful to be part of your journey and excited for all that lies ahead.
“An education capable of saving humanity is no small undertaking; it involves the spiritual development of the human person, the enhancement of their value as an individual, and the preparation of young people to understand the times in which they live." -Maria Montessori, May 1937
