“It’s important to celebrate black people in medicine because first we have to acknowledge all the adversity and challenges we as a people have faced and overcome to not only succeed but excel in this field. And even more important, to show the next generation that we are here, we do exist, we can do this, and we do it well so they are encouraged to continue on this path especially when trials come (because they will both internally and externally). But seeing people that look like you and me is a push to know that there is support and a network of people behind you even if we dont know you personally, we still know you and are here for you.”

“Inclusion and representation are vital in medicine. Celebrating Hispanic heritage in medicine is an important way of highlighting and encouraging diversity in our healthcare. It allows us to highlight the reflection of the communities we serve and encourage better relationships with to create more compassionate care. “
