Growing in devotion to God’s Word requires both desire and discipline. Dr. Duncan encourages believers to plan intentional time in Scripture, establish a consistent reading habit, and make use of reading plans and study tools that help guide steady engagement with the Bible. Pastors are often expected to have answers for every cultural, moral, and political question, but Dr. Kruger reminds us that this is not their calling. A pastor is not meant to be an expert in everything, but to be faithful in one central task, the study and teaching of God’s Word. Healthy ministry requires humility, focus, and the freedom to say, “I do not know everything about everything,” while remaining devoted to Scripture and the care of God’s people.

This Week on Wisdom Wednesday, we're revisiting a favorite episode from the archives. Dr. James Newheiser, Professor of Christian Counseling and Pastoral Theology and Director of the Christian Counseling Program, answers the question “How can I overcome my anger?”

Anger is a common struggle rooted in our desire to have our own way, but Scripture calls us to something better. Dr. Newheiser explains that true transformation begins with the gospel. God is the Judge and we are not, and in Christ we are people who have received great mercy. As we remember the forgiveness we have been given, the grace of God empowers us to put off anger and walk in the fruit of the Spirit, trusting God rather than reacting in sin.

This Week on Wisdom Wednesday, we're revisiting a favorite episode from the archives. Dr. Scott Swain, President of RTS Orlando and Professor of Systematic Theology, answers the question “What does it mean to count it all joy?”

Counting it all joy does not mean ignoring real sorrow or forcing a smile in the midst of trials. Instead, Dr. Swain explains that Scripture gives us counterweights for our hearts, real reasons to rejoice even as we bear suffering. God is at work in our trials to shape our character, he promises a future reward, and ultimately he himself is with us and unchanging. Because of this, we can rejoice even in the midst of hardship.
