Today’s Aprendamos Español word is apapachar (ah-pah-pah-CHAR).

Apapachar means to show someone affection, comfort or care. Especially familiar in Mexican Spanish, the word can describe offering a hug, giving someone a little extra attention, or simply making them feel cared for.

There isn't one English word that captures its meaning perfectly. An apapacho is less about a specific action and more about the warmth and care behind it.

La palabra de hoy en Aprendamos Español es apapachar.

Apapachar es demostrar cariño, dar consuelo o hacer sentir querido a alguien. Es una palabra especialmente común en México y puede referirse a un abrazo, una muestra de cariño o simplemente a ese cuidado especial que le damos a alguien.

Our Patriot students recently demonstrated their support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month by wearing pink. 🩷 The band, color guard, and Dazzlers also showcased their talent with outstanding performances.

GCCISD families, students, staff, and community partners came together for the 2026 Family Wellness Festival to celebrate health, wellness, and connection!

More than 1,400 attendees enjoyed free family activities, wellness resources, student performances, physical activity sessions, giveaways, and opportunities to connect with community organizations committed to supporting healthy lifestyles.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this event a success as we continue growing healthy Giants and building a healthier community.
