Dear Southwest Public Schools Families,

Southwest Public Schools will resume normal school operations tomorrow, Wednesday, September 2.

While we may continue to experience periods of rain as the tropical system moves through the Houston area, current conditions do not indicate a significant flooding concern for our campus locations. We will continue to closely monitor weather and roadway conditions throughout the evening and into the morning.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding today as we prioritized the safety of our students, staff, and families.

We look forward to welcoming everyone back tomorrow for a normal school day!

WEATHER UPDATE: EARLY DISMISSAL – TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1

Dear Southwest Public Schools' Families,

Out of an abundance of caution, Southwest Public Schools will have a 1:00 PM early dismissal on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, due to the forecast for inclement weather, including the potential for heavy rainfall and street flooding in parts of the Houston area during the regular dismissal time.

This developing and somewhat unpredictable weather pattern may create hazardous travel conditions tomorrow afternoon. The safety of our students, staff, and families remains our highest priority, and we want to ensure everyone has adequate time to travel home safely before conditions potentially worsen.

Please stay tuned for further updates as we continue to monitor weather and roadway conditions.

🚨 IMPORTANT EARLY DISMISSAL NOTICE 🚨

Due to a citywide water service issue affecting the Westpark area, Southwest Public Schools will dismiss students at 1:00 PM today, Thursday, August 27, 2026 at:

📍 Leadership and Global Studies Academy
📍 College and Career Preparatory Academy

Students who commute to ILA will remain safely supervised at ILA until a parent or guardian is available for pickup.

✅ At this time, we expect to resume normal school hours tomorrow, Friday, August 28, 2026.

Families will be notified if there are any changes.
