Founded in 1981, HCP is a nonprofit organization offering year-round exhibitions, workshops, publications, outreach programs, lectures, classes, and home to an on-site library housing more than 2,900 publications on photography as well as a state of the art digital darkroom.

HCP Summer Teen Classes are Filling Up!

Take you teen's photography skills to the next level at the Houston Center for Photography this summer From learning to master camera operations and settings to creative usage of photoshop, lighting, and portraiture. Experienced instructors connect with other young creatives leading them to create beautiful pictures they'll be proud to share or add to their portfolio.

The purchase award, a cash prize of up to $5,000, will be awarded each year to an artist or artists picked by MFAH Curator of Photography, Lisa Volpe, from among those exhibited in HCP’s Center Annual. The chosen work will become part of the permanent collection at MFAH if approved by the museum’s review committee.
