World soccer and geopolitics
The US team gained a victory over the Iranian team . There is no doubt that this game and its result is far beyond just a mere soccer match .
The Iranian players who refused to sing the national anthem in solidarity of the protests raging in Iran ignited by the killing of Mahsa Amini while in police custody . It is most likely the Iranian players will face harsh retribution, including jail , from the government. However , it seems that the protesters expected more from the team in terms of speaking out and even “ taking the knee “ in the vain of Colin Kaepernick , the black American football player , who protested racism and human rights in America.
To help understand the background of today’s geopolitics and the current situation in Iran , I strongly suggest reading the “ piece “ : Iran : is it really about the headscarf , I wrote for the online magazine

Understanding Diabetes Mellitus by Dr. Wazir Kudrath Dr. Wazir Kudrath
“The prevalence (diagnosed cases) of Diabetes has reached alarming levels and some clinicians are advocating that it is now a pandemic. The prevalence worldwide is reported by WHO (World Health Organization) to be approximately 11 percent in 2021. The US reported a prevalence of about 10.5 percent and Canada reported 8.8 percent. The startling statistic is that Guyana is estimated to have a prevalence of 21.4 percent in women and 15.1 percent in men (BMJ open Diabetes Research and Care, vol.8, issue 1.). In the Caribbean, the overall prevalence is about 9.5 percent.”

Optimism
I want to congratulate all who fasted the month of Ramadan and join in prayer that their fasting was accepted by God . I also want to acknowledge everyone , the entire of humanity, that seek to make themselves better and those around them better . Success only comes from a win / win approach. We can only win in this life and the next , if our lives are first dedicated to facilitate those around us , our families and communities , to be successful.
I am confident that my colleagues here visiting with me , has taken this noble path . Your journey as a physician is one of utmost importance and it is necessary that you keep on fighting the fight to establish your career and hold fast to your vision . I advice that everyday , at least once , you pause for a moment and imagine yourself five years into the future … picture how you would look , what you will be and the heart and soul you will have , all within God’s will .
I hope Eid was wonderful for those who celebrated and please don’t hesitate to comment , post pictures of your celebration, share your vision and your journey. I am sure it will be beneficial for us all .
Let’s do it together!
Keeping in shape and healthy is very much part of the journey . I post this as motivation . Exercise at least for 30 mins / day makes life and studying more efficient . Our minds will tell us that we are too busy and that we will waste time when we should be studying. It’s not about how many hours you sit in front of a book , but how efficient you are … I argue that if exercise is not part of your daily study plan then you are being wasteful of time 🙂 .

Hello everyone , I just want to share this picture of such a remarkable building and architectural masterpiece. The Sheikh Zayed mosque in Abu Dhabi. I was told that they used materials from every country in the world as part of the construction. And the carpet was hand sewn right there on the floor .
It’s been great so far at Khalifa University in Abu Dhabi.
It’s always a pleasure to hear from past students and to be able to guide and teach present students and doctors in their journey of conquering the USMLE .
Yes , the journey can be challenging but it’s doable and rewarding . Let’s do it together .
UAE
I will be traveling to Abu Dhabi on April 9th to teach a class at Khalifa university. It’s reaching the point when the Covid is going from a pandemic to an endemic pattern , and so travel and live classes are now returning to normal . Let’s pray this trend continues.
Students and IMG who were forced to stall their dream of passing the USMLE and seeking the opportunity to practice medicine here in America , can now begin to revive that dream . There is no doubt that the Covid pandemic exposed the severe shortage of primary care physicians in America and I do believe the doors will be more open now for IMGs to practice here in America.
Let us know if we can help you as you get prepared for the step one exams . I urge not to underestimate the exam even if it is now a pass and fail score .
Let’s turn our dreams into realty !
Hello everyone . After years of teaching I have come to realise that generally there are two major challenges to students .
It’s not about ability or capability but rather the two challenges are
1. How to study for the USMLE… a study plan or a mechanism that take into consideration each person’s uniqueness and personality
2. Test taking strategies . The USMLE is the most challenging exam . The questions are the best written , passing through several committees before reaching the student . Performance in the exam can be negatively affected if the student doesn’t have a plan in place .
On May 17th , I will be having a live FB webinar on the topic of Test Taking Strategies.
Join me and let’s improve your prep for the exam .
