Six weeks. Free. Just fútbol, familia, and joy. ⚽🌱

This summer, Raíces en el Barrio brought East Houston kids and families together for a free 6 week soccer program, all made possible by Our Copa. Every Monday, our field turned into a place where families could show up exactly as they are: no cost, no barriers, just a chance to play the beautiful game together.

Our Copa isn’t just a partner, it’s a movement built on the idea that fútbol belongs to la gente, to el barrio, to the abuelitas in chanclas on the sideline and the kids who lived for Monday evenings. Their support is why we could keep this program completely free for every family who showed up.

⚽ This week, Council Member Joaquin Martinez stopped by the Kick Out Violence futbolito program! It’s never just talk. It’s about really showing up for our communities!

Because that’s what this work is about: showing up. On the field, our youth aren’t just playing futbol. They’re building mental health, team bonding, communication, and trust — skills that carry far beyond the game. Paired with workshops, to solidify and build these skills.

We’re grateful for the support and continue to plant roots in our community.

Futbol is just the beginning. 🌱
