Project Controls Analyst
Location: Onsite — Houston, TX, Energy Corridor
Employment Type: Contract, Full-Time (40 hours/week)
Contract Term: 6 weeks, with options to extend in 6-week increments
Status: Contingent upon contract award
Position Overview
Shea Writing and Training Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Project Controls Analyst to develop weekly and monthly client reports. This role reviews multi-section client progress reports and attachments, then works with the internal team to reconcile, update, and produce polished deliverables for executive-level review. Contingent on contract award.
Key Responsibilities
● Develop weekly and monthly reports summarizing project status for executives
● Review client progress reports (100+ pages) covering HSE, project controls, engineering, procurement, subcontracting, construction, and commissioning
● Cross-reference data from progress curves, KPI tables, change order registers, risk registers, and subcontract status reports
● Compare current vs. prior-period data to identify changes, corrections, and trends
● Update reporting deliverables, including a tracked-changes Word document and an aggregated PowerPoint deck, citing each edit to its source
● Draft executive summary content translating multi-source data into concise, decision-ready language
● Add reviewer comments documenting the source and rationale for changes
● Respond to ad hoc client requests during the reporting cycle
● Maintain version control across recurring deliverables and meet weekly/monthly deadlines
Required Qualifications
● Experience in project controls, program management support, or similar analytical role
● Strong ability to interpret progress/KPI tables, charts, and technical or financial reports
● Excellent written communication; able to distill complex data into executive-ready summaries
● Proficiency with Word and PowerPoint, including tracked changes and comments
● High attention to detail across multiple source documents
● Able to work independently onsite and respond to ad hoc client requests
Preferred Qualifications
● EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) or capital project reporting experience
● Familiarity with earned value management (EVM) or similar methodologies
Contract Details
● Contingent upon contract award; start date confirmed upon award notification
● Onsite, full-time, 40 hours/week, Energy Corridor location
● Initial 6-week term, with options to extend in 6-week increments
● Reports to the Project Manager (PM)
● $65,000–$75,000, DOE
