Kaziah (Coach "Kaz") has been involved in aquatics the majority of her life. She swam for the Mexico Tiger Sharks Sw
im League from its inception when she was 6, until high school. She then swam for Mexico HS and Westhill-Corcoran Swim teams. In her summers, she also attended Nike Swim Camps (coached by Steve Jungbluth of Florida Gators), which initiated her interest in stroke technique, leading to her desire to coach and instruct others. After high school, Kaziah was recruited to the SUNY Geneseo college team, where she swam her freshman year before getting injured. She then assisted coaching at Westhill-Corcoran (her former Varsity team). She also acted as an instructional swim coach for various age groups (infant to adult) for a local YMCA during the year, and Camp Takajo in Naples, Maine in the summers. In 2009, Kaziah became certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor under Shawn DeRosa, a known leader in the aquatics field. This certification allows Kaziah to certify/teach on Pool Management, Water Safety, First Aid, CPR/AED, Lifeguarding, Blood borne Pathogens, and Oxygen Administration. She has taught on these subjects for numerous groups, including the YWCA in Wilmington, NC and also returning to Camp Takajo to train their waterfront staff. Kaziah has been coaching for the Carolina Aquatics Club team since 2016.
