Our team recently had the opportunity to welcome the newest members of the Baylor College of Medicine family during orientations for the School of Medicine and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences! They got new water bottles and ice cream sandwiches to help cool down during this summer heat.

We’re proud to recognize John Goss, M.D., and William Decker, Ph.D. ’01, for their contributions to new Baylor College of Medicine research exploring innovative approaches to improving patient care.

Their work is another great example of Baylor alumni helping move medicine and research forward. We’re also proud to have Dr. Decker continue giving back to our alumni community as a member of the Alumni Executive Committee.

Congratulations to Eileen Chen, Ph.D. '24, on being named a 2026–2027 Kavli Institute for Brain and Mind Postdoctoral Scholar at UC San Diego!

After earning her Ph.D. at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Chen continues to push the boundaries of neuroscience research. Her doctoral work advanced our understanding of the molecular mechanisms behind pediatric brain tumors, and in her postdoctoral research, she is investigating how transfer RNA (tRNA) deficiency influences brain development and neuroinflammation.

We're proud to see Baylor alumni making meaningful contributions to science and improving our understanding of the brain through innovative research.
