We’re excited to offer this psychoeducational class for parents seeking a better understanding of overcontrol and practical strategies for helping their overcontrolled teens and young adults. This class will help you understand how you can best support their developing flexibility and connections.You’ll also learn many of the same skills taught in RO DBT skills classes, allowing you to better support your teen’s growth while strengthening your relationship.
What You’ll Learn
What overcontrol is and how it develops
How family interactions can unintentionally reinforce overcontrolled behaviors
Communication strategies that increase openness and trust
Validation skills that are especially effective with overcontrolled individuals
Practical ways to support healthy change at home

Sessions: 90-minute virtual meetings
