Today is Master Steven's last day with us. He was the person who made Vovinam Ngoi Loi into what it is now. This is one of the last pictures of the Instructor Staff with the Master. Good luck, Master Steven, with wherever you go and whatever you do.

Today Vovinam Ngoi Loi had it's first field day ever, as a back to school party for the students, as well as the Instructors. Instructor Jenny is leaving us once again to return to New York for her 2nd year of college. It was a blast and all the students enjoyed it. We do not have any pictures because all the instructors were working hard to set up and prepare games/activities. Hope everyone enjoyed their last day of summer break! Time to hit the books!

Yesterday's Vovinam Beach Day was amazing! The students, along with their parents had a great time. The instructors also had their share of fun. Thank you to all the parents and instructors who made yesterday possible. Hope to do something like this next year!

On Sunday, July 14th, 2013 we lost a dearly beloved master, Master Nguyen Van Do. This is a sad time for us, but as his son said, we know where he is, so let us not be too sad. You will be missed by us Master Do. But we know you will be with us in spirit. Rest In Paradise Master Do, you left with Vovinam forever in your blood. Thank you to all the Masters, Instructors, and Assistant Instructors who attended the wake this evening. Our condolences go out to the family members of Master Do.

Let's go back in time..

In the first Vovinam demonstration, there was a high ranking French officer, Colonel Maurice Ducoroy, attending. Because Colonel Maurice Ducoroy, who represented the French colonial rule, was sitting in the audience, Grandmaster Nguyen Loc did not let his disciples to bow to the audience. Instead he took his disciples to the backstage to bow to the ancestor's altar. During the demonstration, Dr. Dang Vu Hy invited Founder Nguyen Loc to Durocoy's seat so Ducoroy could award him a medal. Knowing that he could not refuse, Grandmaster Nguyen Loc had to accept. But when he returned to the stage, he calmly put the medal into his pocket. His conduct had touched the patriotic feelings of the audience, especially his disciples.
