Prelude Music Classes

Prelude Music Classes Join us in Houston, The Heights & The Woodlands! Experience Music Together® and find out how important--and how fun--your role can be!

At Prelude, children learn through play, movement, connection & music. 🎶 Our research-based classes help families sing, dance, play & grow together from babyhood through early elementary. Have you ever wondered what you can do to nurture the musical growth of your child, regardless of your own musical ability? The research-based, early childhood music program Music Together builds on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement. From babyhood through the early elementary years, we nurture each child's natural musicality in a playful, musically rich learning environment. Our developmentally appropriate music classes are designed to be non-formal and non-performance oriented, so your child can learn at his or her own pace. By enrolling in our music program, you'll experience a whole semester of classes led by one of our trained teachers. No matter what music class you take at Prelude Music Classes, you're guaranteed to learn new songs and music activities to inspire you to bring music into your family's everyday life. We'll help you provide your child with the basic musical skills needed to enjoy school and social musical activities, and to study an instrument should he or she choose to do so.

We have a new face joining the Prelude family! 🎶

Meet Hannah Taylor, one of our newest Family Class teachers.

Hannah recently graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Vocal Music Education. During her time at UH, she fell in love with early childhood music and the special connection that happens when children and grown-ups sing, move, play, and make music together.

We’re so happy to have Hannah bringing her love of music and early childhood education to our Prelude families, and we can’t wait for you to meet her in class!

Please help us give Hannah a big Prelude welcome! 🎶

Our Prelude Music Foundation and Prelude Music Classes teams came together for a retreat centered on connection, reflection, learning, and preparing for the year ahead.

The retreat was led by Katie Koenig, PMF Board Member, and included a special presentation from Dr. Nikita Shukla, pediatric neurologist at Texas Children’s Hospital, on the neuroscience of flourishing and the importance of the first 1,000 days.

Many of our Music Specialists teach across both PMC and PMF, this time together gave us a meaningful opportunity to reconnect with our teaching philosophy, strengthen our shared vision, and think intentionally about how we show up for the children and families we serve.

There was also plenty of music, conversation, reflection, and team connection along the way. 🎶

We left feeling grounded in our purpose, connected to one another, and excited to carry that energy back into our classrooms.

Okay, Prelude families… let’s see how well you know this voice. 👀🎶

Six people are “singing”… but only one of them actually is. 😂

Can you figure out who it is before the reveal at the end?

Tell us which number you picked!

Some Music Together® songs just stick with you. 🎶

Maybe it’s the one your child sings in the car, requests at bedtime, or turns into a full living-room dance party.

We want to know:
What’s your family’s favorite Music Together® song?

Drop it in the comments! 👇

When you sign your child up for music class, you probably expect songs, instruments, and movement. 🎶🥁💃

But somewhere along the way, you get so much more.

The song that follows you home and becomes part of bedtime 🛏️

The dance that somehow makes its way into your kitchen ⏲️

The little look they give you from across the room 👀

The big laughs during class 😂
You signed up to make music together.

But you also signed up for all these little moments of connection you didn’t even know were coming. ❤️

And those might just be the moments you remember most.

One of the most important things we want our Prelude grown-ups to know: you do not have to be a musician to make music with your child. ❤️

You don’t need a perfect singing voice or great dance moves. What matters is that your child sees you participating alongside them.

When you sing, move, clap, play an instrument and get a little silly together, you’re showing your child that music isn’t something they simply watch, it’s something your family can experience together.

So sing the song. Do the movement. Shake the egg shaker.

Your child isn’t listening for perfection.

They’re listening for you. 🎶❤️
