Tanglewood Middle School is offering a counseling group for students to learning coping skills to manage anxiety and increase calm. We will meet in a small group on campus during the school day for six sessions. Students will explore ways to create a calm space, and connect with themselves through drawing, writing, movement, and breathing. Each meeting will consist of the following format: a breathing exercise, checking in with each other, a brief informational talk about the science behind these skills, and an activity applying what we have learned. These skills are portable beyond this group, and can be used to calm the mind and body in our daily lives.
