Ten years of Mrs. Charles leading Kolter… and what a beautiful, unforgettable decade it has been. ❤️🐾💙
Through hurricanes, Kolter North, charter buses, virtual learning, and every challenge in between, Mrs. Charles has shown up with unwavering loyalty, endless heart, and the kind of dedication that makes Kolter feel like home to so many.
I’ve only had the privilege of being part of 9 of those 10 years, but I truly cannot imagine a better leader, teammate, early morning/middle of the night texter, or friend to walk through it all with.
Her love for Kolter shines through in every hallway, every tradition, every student, and every little thing that makes this school so special. Because of her leadership, Kolter has continued to grow, thrive, and stay the sweetest place through every season.
Happy 10 years to Mrs. Charles, the heart, soul, and magic behind Kolter. 💙🐾

A decade ago this week. Very trusting. 😉
What followed was, by any measure, a whole situation. A hurricane that took our building. Three years in a furniture warehouse while our kids rode full-size charter buses like the world’s longest field trip. A pandemic. A brand new campus that opened while we were all standing as far apart as humanly possible.
Completely normal run of events.
And yet — this school never flinched. Not once. The excellence stayed. The joy stayed. The something-special-that-lives-here stayed, through every single version of chaos we were handed.
That’s not a building. That’s not a program. That’s people.
The teachers who find a way to make magic out of nothing. The families who hold this community together in every season. The kids who remind you every single day why all of it is worth it.
Ten years in, we’re more certain of that than anything.
Happy Kolterversary to all of us!
And everything still ahead. ❤️🐾💙

On the eve of our final week of school, we’ve officially entered our “thriving, not surviving” era.
In the last 48 hours alone, our 5th grade Girl Scouts left their mark after fundraising for new trash bins and holders across campus. Paw prints included, obviously.
Second grade brought history to life at the Wax Museum, fifth grade shined this morning during their PBL expo, third grade spent the day at NASA, and fourth grade explored Asia Society Houston.
And because it’s the end of May, we also somehow managed to fit in a confetti egg soirée and enjoy some Grassroom grown salsa.
And for those keeping track, the adults have a 50/50 chance of identifying the day of the week correctly.
Also thriving. 💙🐾❤️

After hours of revamping plans because we were convinced Field Day was going to be a complete washout… the most gorgeous weather of the entire week showed up!
So naturally, we responded with relays, dance moves on point, cheers, color powder flying everywhere, snow cones, kids living their best lives, AND our first-ever promposal happening right in the middle of it all. (The sweetest memory with our very own Kolter alumnae turned intern. 🥺🥺🥺)
It was chaotic, loud, colorful, emotional, slightly unhinged, but it’s us. And this is Kolter. ⛈️🐾☀️

The end of the school year is doing exactly what the memes promised it would.
Field trips, guest speakers, PBL Expos, celebrations, ceremonies, countdowns, schedule changes, and approximately 42 tabs open in everyone’s brain at all times.
Hang tight, we only have 873 things to cross off our end-of-year to do list in the next three weeks.
💙✨❤️

Cue the cap and gowns 💙🐾❤️
Our Kolter Elementary alumni seniors came back today, and apparently time is fake because somehow they were just elementary kids again the second they walked through the doors.
Teachers printed old photos. One FaceTimed from California because missing the reunion was simply not an option. We love you, Ms. Yu. The seniors STILL remembered the choreography and words from their 4th grade Chinese performance years later.
Full circle in the very best way. Once a Kolter Cougar, always a Kolter Cougar.

Knocking Teacher Appreciation Week out of the park! 💯⚾️🐾🤍

Day 2 of Teacher Appreciation Week and we’re already doing the most.
Mums like it’s homecoming.
Breakfast tacos (obviously).
Popsicles because… it’s May.
Lunch so no one had to think.
Surprise campus freebies.
And today we decorated cars like it’s senior year again.
Cougar casual.
Kolter teachers deserve every bit of it.
More tomorrow… we’re just getting started. 💯💙🐾

Kicking off Teacher Appreciation Week right here with this team…
The ones who can teach, redirect, encourage, problem solve, and somehow track down a missing water bottle before 9:00 AM.
They make the hard work look effortless (it’s not), and they show up for kids in ways that matter every single day.
This place runs on their heart, their humor, and their ability to do a hundred things at once and still make kids feel seen.
Grateful doesn’t quite cover it… but it’s a start. 🫶🏼🐾🙏🏼
