Nextgen Trades

Nextgen Trades Helping to connect today's youth in oil & gas, energy, and industrial trades. Exciting opportunities in trade schools await!

09/02/2026

Friday, October 9, 2026. Providence Plantation in Rosharon, Texas. We are bringing the energy industry back to the field.

Last year, before the first shot, the group gathered. Students in Trades Is America shirts stood alongside executives with decades in the industry. Instructors taught safety and stance like they were training a new crew. By mid-morning, students who had never held a shotgun were hitting targets. By the end of the morning, industry leaders were handing out business cards between stations.

This is a proving ground.

When you register a team or become a sponsor, you get more than a morning on the range. You stand shoulder to shoulder with the students who will be running your equipment in a few years. You cover the instruction, the gear, and the transportation that gets them here.

Check-in and breakfast are at 7:00 AM. Safety orientation is at 8:30 AM. The tournament begins at 9:00 AM.

You are invited to Boots and Black Tie Charity Gala on November 6, 2026, at Le Tesserae in Houston.

This is our charity gala co-presented by Nextgen Trades and the IADC Houston Chapter, with Flipping The Barrel standing with us as a supporting partner. It is a night where Houston energy leaders come together to fund the next generation of skilled trades professionals. There will be live music, champagne divas, casino games, a guns silent auction, premium dinner, and an after party that goes late.

But more than that, it is a room where careers start.

There was a time when you were the kid who needed someone to believe in him. Maybe it was a foreman who taught you how to read a rig. Maybe it was a supervisor who pulled you aside and said you had more in you than you thought. Maybe it was just someone who gave you a chance before you had the resume to earn it. Whoever it was, they changed your trajectory. And now you are in a position to do the same thing for someone else.

Your table at Boots and Black Tie does not just get you a night out. It gets another student his first pair of steel toes. It pays for the bus ride to the training facility. It covers the mentorship that turns a welder into a foreman.

You do not need to be told that the workforce is shrinking. You see it on your crews every day. What you need is a way to fix it that matches the scale of the problem. This is that way.

Reserve your table because someone once reserved one for you.

Last week, we visited the welding class at Cy Fair High School - Cy-Fair High School (Arclabs Welding School). These students are learning how to weld, and they need the right gear and the right space to stay safe and do the job right. We made sure they have both.

We donated a refrigerator for the new welding building through Lincoln Electric. These kids need cold water when they are working in a hot shop. And thanks to Red Wing Shoe Co., we put steel toe boots on 140 students. Safety comes first.

These students are welders in training. They deserve a shop that treats them like professionals from day one.

Nextgen Trades School visits start in October and Day In The Life starts in November. We are looking forward to working with these 2027 graduates when they are ready to step into the trades.

This is the work your support makes possible. If you want to stand with us, here are two ways to do it.

Register your team for the Charity Sporting Clay Tournament on October 9 at Providence Plantation: Get your tickets & sponsor here -https://lnkd.in/eyhRPsPg

Reserve your table at Boots and Black Tie Charity Gala on November 6 in Houston: Get your tickets & sponsor here - https://lnkd.in/eq___U4d

Both events put students in front of the industry and fund the work that gets them hired.

The Boots and Black Tie Charity Gala is where we bridge the gap between students who are pursuing trade careers and the industry that needs them.

On one side of the room, you have young people who have put in the work, learned the skills, and are ready to show up. On the other side, you have the companies, executives, and rig managers who are looking for the next generation of workers. Our job is to get them in the same room and let the connections form.

This gala is co-presented by Nexgen Trades and the International Association of Drilling Contractors Houston Chapter, with Massiel & Jamie 🎧 | Energy Stories 🗣️ | Energy Jobs 💼 as our supporting partner. Every table purchased puts another student through trade school, funds another mentorship match, and creates another introduction that turns into a career.

The date is November 6, 2026 at Le Tesserae 2940 Riverby Rd, Houston, TX . More details are coming. For now, save the date and get ready to open a door for the next generation.

Friday, October 9, 2026, we are returning to Providence Plantation in Rosharon, Texas, for the NextGen Charity Sporting Clay Tournament (Houston Clay Shoot)

This is a day of good shooting and better conversation, but when the shells are picked up, the real work is done.

Our students stand on the same field as the executives and rig managers who will hire them. They learn safety and discipline from instructors who treat them like professionals. They shake hands with industry leaders who are there to see what the next generation is made of and they leave knowing they belong.

This is how the pipeline gets built. We have engaged over 15,000 students, received more than 1,600 applications, awarded over $100,000 in scholarships, and placed more than 100 young people into the workforce. Every dollar from this tournament funds that work.

Check-in and breakfast are at 7:00 AM. Safety orientation is at 8:30 AM. The tournament begins at 9:00 AM.

Thank you to Red Wing Shoes for stepping up and providing safety boots for our students. When a kid laces up a pair of boots built for the job, he starts to see himself as someone who is ready to work.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, we are bringing students and industry leaders to Providence Plantation in Rosharon, Texas, for the NextGen Charity Sporting Clay Tournament. The shotguns come out at 9:00 AM, but the real work starts before the first clay is thrown.

This event gives our students something they cannot get in a classroom. They learn safety and discipline from instructors who treat them like professionals, not kids. They stand shoulder to shoulder with executives, rig managers, and business owners who are there to shoot and to see what the next generation is made of. When a student breaks a clay target after three misses, he learns something about himself. When an industry leader hands him a shell and says good shot, that student learns he belongs in the room.

We have watched quiet kids walk onto that field and leave with their shoulders back. We have watched students who have never held a shotgun earn respect from veterans who have been shooting for thirty years. That confidence carries over into job interviews, into trade school, into the first day on the rig.

Your sponsorship or team registration makes this day possible. It also puts you in the shooting station next to the kid who could be your next apprentice.

If you want to spend a Friday breaking clays and building the workforce at the same time, register your team or become a sponsor.

You can spend your Friday doing a lot of things, or you can spend it making a real difference.

On Friday, October 9, 2026, NextGen Trades is hosting the Charity Sporting Clay Tournament at Providence Plantation in Rosharon, Texas. The day starts at 7:00 AM with check-in and breakfast, safety orientation begins at 8:30 AM, and the tournament starts at 9:00 AM.

This is a day that changes lives. Every dollar from this event goes toward training the next generation of skilled trade professionals. These are young people who need a path to a good job and a stable future. They do not need a four-year degree. They need someone to show them the way.

Bring your team, bring your friends, and bring your competitive spirit. But most importantly, bring your belief that the next generation deserves a shot.

Our Upcoming Boots & Black Charity Tie Gala is the event that connects our students with companies like Transocean.

We took our students through Transocean's Houston training facility. They stood inside a multi-million dollar engine room. They drove a drilling simulator. They met the people who started from the ground up and built careers that last a lifetime.

When you reserve a table or sponsor the Boots & Black Tie Charity Gala, you are not purchasing dinner. You are stepping into the pipeline. You are sitting across from the next generation of welders, electricians, and rig operators before your competitors meet them. You are funding the bus ride to the facility. You are funding the mentorship that opens eyes. You are funding the moment a kid realizes this industry is his/her future.

Boots & Black Tie Charity Gala puts students and employers in the same room. That is where careers start.

What if you didn’t have to choose between learning and earning?

That’s one of the ideas behind an apprenticeship.

You learn a skill, work alongside experienced people, earn a paycheck, and build your skills as you go. Registered Apprenticeships also combine on-the-job learning with classroom instruction and can lead to an industry-recognized credential.

It’s not just school.
It’s not just a job.

It’s a way to start building a career while you’re still learning.

NextGen is a family. Families do not disappear after graduation.

Once a month, our alumni sit down for NextGen Dinner. We walk through their real budget — rent, truck payment, groceries, and the fees they did not know they were paying. Then we open an investment account and set up monthly savings. Not someday. Now.

That dinner is funded by the people who show up at Boots and Black Tie Charity Gala.

Your table in November pays for the dinner we host in December. It pays for the budget that keeps an alum from bleeding money on fees. It pays for the investment account that turns a paycheck into wealth. It pays for the family that checks in long after the job starts.

On November 6, NextGen Trades and the IADC Houston Chapter are co-presenting Boots and Black Tie at Le Tesserae in Houston.

Retention starts before the first day on the job. Reserve your table and VIP tickets at https://loom.ly/tJ8G3Q4
