Hey y'all! Make sure to come by SEP this week--whether for your LSAMP orientation or to just say, "Hello!". Or in my case, "Goodbye!". I'm sad to say this is my last week here with SEP. I'm going to miss you all greatly! I hope to see you all before I take off!!!

We hope to have been an agent of change in your name--a resource for all students pushing for social and political change by providing a learning community welcoming to all!

Louis Stokes, Ohio’s First Black Congressman, Dies at 90 Mr. Stokes, a Democrat, served in the House for 30 years, and led a special investigation into the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Help out with Operation School Supply. This is a project spearheaded by Dr Bott's summer chemistry class to collect school supplies. These will then be distributed to elementary and middle school children in the Greater Houston area who do not have their own.

Last year, the class collected over 20,000 items which it gave to students at 29 different schools, all but one of which was in HISD. The majority of the schools were within 2 miles of UH.

Their target this year is to provide the bulk of the supplies needed for at least 10,000 students at 40 schools.

If you would like to donate supplies, they have set up boxes at locations around campus. The supplies needed are the usual ones; a list may be found at:

The deadline for donations is AUGUST 13th as they will be distributing to the schools on AUGUST 17th and 18th.
