UPDATE:

In accordance with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott’s announcement on April 17th for all Texas schools, Young Learners School will stay closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
This decision comes in response to a new executive
order by Gov. Abbott to continue safety measures to
combat the spread of COVID-19 and that all public and
private schools should not reopen for the current school
year. Through the end of the school year on June 1, we
will continue online learning and virtual operations at the
district level.

En conformidad con el anuncio emitido 17 de abril por el gobernador de Texas, Greg Abbott, para todas las escuelas de Texas, el Distrito Escolar Young Learners School permanecerá cerrado por el resto del ciclo escolar 2019-2020. Esta decisión obedece a la orden ejecutiva del
gobernador Abbott que requiere continuar observando
las medidas de seguridad establecidas para combatir la
propagación del COVID-19, y ordena que las escuelas
públicas y privadas no vuelvan a abrir para el ciclo
escolar en curso. Hasta el final del ciclo escolar el 1.o de
junio, continuaremos con el aprendizaje en línea y el
trabajo a distancia en el distrito.

Besides being a teacher many of you are parents with families. We are all facing new ways to handle not only our online teaching tasks, but balancing our families. Reminder to all YLS teachers and staff - pace yourself, hum your favorite song, and dance. If you could see me now, I’m standing giving each of you a “Bravo!”

Young Learners School has suspended normal district operations through Friday, April 10th in an effort to support the nation’s need to flatten the curve of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Houston area continues to see an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 and health officials report that this number is expected to continue to increase as more testing is made available.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has outlined the need for all communities to implement a social distancing protocol. The District will remain flexible as leaders plan for long-term delivery of instruction and continue to navigate the many details of this unprecedented situation.

We will continue to monitor the situation during the closure and provide operational updates as necessary.

Young Learners School ha suspendido las operaciones normales del distrito hasta el viernes 10 de abril en un esfuerzo por apoyar la necesidad de la nación de combatir la curva de la pandemia de COVID-19. El área de Houston continúa viendo un número creciente de casos confirmados de COVID-19 y los funcionarios de salud informan que se espera que este número continúe aumentando a medida que se realicen más pruebas.

El Centro para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades han señalado la necesidad de que todas las comunidades implementen un protocolo de distanciamiento social. El Distrito seguirá siendo flexible a medida que los líderes planifiquen la entrega de instrucción a largo plazo y continúen navegando por los muchos detalles de esta situación sin precedentes.

This is a reminder that Young Learners School and the district office will be closed for the Winter Break from Monday, December 23, 2019 through Friday, January 3, 2020. Normal school and business operations will resume on Monday, January 6, 2020.
