We were excited to welcome our Literacy Mentors for their first visit of the school year with our 3rd graders! Students enjoyed listening to engaging stories, participating in meaningful discussions, and connecting with community role models who shared their love of reading. Thank you to our guest readers for helping inspire a lifelong passion for literacy and learning. We look forward to many more visits throughout the year!

Dear Mahanay Families,

We have some BIG news to celebrate with our Mahanay community!

Each year, the State of Texas evaluates public schools and gives campuses an accountability rating of A, B, C, D, or F. This rating looks at several measures of how well students are learning, growing academically, and succeeding across different student groups.

Our 2025–2026 results are in!🌟

MAHANAY GREW 9 POINTS! ⭐🚀

And there is even more to celebrate!

Mahanay also earned TWO DISTINCTION DESIGNATIONS from the Texas Education Agency:

⭐Academic Achievement in Reading/Language Arts

⭐Academic Achievement in Mathematics

Distinction designations are special recognitions earned when a school demonstrates outstanding academic performance compared with similar campuses around Texas. In other words, these distinctions tell us that there are areas where our Stars aren't just growing--they are shining!

Nine points of growth is worth celebrating because behind every number is a child. Students who learned, grew, persevered, and showed us just how capable our Mahanay Stars are when they receive the right supports.

It also represents the teachers, staff members, and families who encouraged them, challenged them, showed up for them, and believed in them.

We are incredibly proud of this progress.

And we also want to be transparent with our families:

A "C" is progress but it is not our destination.

We believe Mahanay can be one of the very best schools in Alief and we are committed to doing the work necessary to get there.

Today was the day…
Our classrooms were filled with learning, laughter, new friendships, and lots of Mahanay Stars getting right to work. We also welcomed members of our district leadership team for two campus walks, and we were so proud to show them the great things already happening in our classrooms. Learning started Day 1 at Mahanay! 🌟
